How to Make a Rope Pony
Children's toys can be expensive. But you can make your own toys for kids with simple household supplies and a little patience. One easy project to make is a rope pony. This project is quick and simple and ends with a toy soft and gentle enough for even the youngest of children.

1
Cut a 2-foot section of rope, two 6-inch sections of rope, one 8-inch section of rope and two 4-inch sections of rope.
-
2
Knot the ends of the foot-long sections and fold each rope in half. Knot one of the 6-inch sections to each of the folded ropes so that one end is tied to the fold of one rope and one end is tied to the fold in the other. This will create the body and the legs of the pony. Lay the project on a flat surface so that the ends of the folded sections are pointing down.

3
Knot the other 6-inch section right where the other 6-inch rope was knotted to the folded rope. This will be the neck of the pony.
-
4
Fold the 8-inch rope in half and knot the ends to the top of the neck section. This folded section will be the head, and the edges of the knot will be the ears.
-
5
Fray or unravel the remaining ropes to make the tail and mane. Tie one of the frayed ropes to the left hand side of the project (this is the tail). For the mane, cut the other frayed rope into three or four sections and tie them each around the neck so that the frayed portions make up the mane.
