How to Use Trimax

Trimax is the trade name for a capsule containing two prescription medications -- triamterene and hydrochlorothiazide -- both of which are diuretics. This medication is typically prescribed to people suffering from hypertension and edema. Consult your physician prior to taking Trimax or any other medication.

Instructions

    • 1

Retrieve the amount of Trimax your doctor prescribed. Typically, patients are instructed to take one capsule daily of the strength that was prescribed.

    • 2

Swallow the Trimax capsule with a large glass of water. Trimax can be administered with or without food.

    • 3

Take Trimax at the same time each day. Although Trimax can be safely administered at anytime of day, many patients prefer to take Trimax in the morning because diuretics can cause frequent urination.

Tips & Warnings

  • If you forget a dose of Trimax and remember within four hours of your missed dose, take your Trimax as soon as you remember and continue with your usual schedule.

  • Contact your doctor if you remember your missed dose more than four hours after the dose was scheduled.

  • Consult your doctor immediately or call 911 if you experience vomiting, fever and lethargy after taking Trimax.
