WordPress and Tumblr are two popular blogging platforms.

With the many blog platforms available on the Web, you may be considering making the move from WordPress to Tumblr. Many blog platforms are cross compatible; you can usually migrate from one blog to another with the creation of an XML file. However, while WordPress can export an XML file for you, Tumblr has no capability for importing the file. Therefore, your only option for moving your blog from WordPress to Tumblr is to manually transfer the posts.

Tips & Warnings

  • Delete your posts from WordPress as you transfer them to Tumblr or change the status of the post from "Published" to "Draft." In addition to the benefit of it being easier for you to see which posts you've already transferred, you will avoid the duplicate content penalty imposed by search engines.
