How to Make a Shocker Rig
Carp anglers use a variety of tactics to entice and successfully catch wary carp. Carp are very sensitive to baits, hooks and weight and often mouth a bait before taking it. To help convince a carp that the bait is safe to take, some anglers use a shocker rig to reduce the amount of weight detected by a carp. Use a simple method to assemble a shocker rig that has the benefits of both a sliding and fixed weight rig.

1
Cut a 6-inch length of monofilament line from a filler spool with scissors to use as a bobber stop.

Wrap the bobber stop line around the main fishing line two times to begin tying the bobber stop knot. Form the wraps around the line 12 inches from the free end of the main line.

3
Form an overhand loop with the ends of the bobber stop line. Wrap one free end of the line around and through the loop three times. Pull the bobber stop knot tight and trim off the excess line with scissors.

4
Slide a rubber bead onto the main line and up to the bobber stop. Place a 1/2-ounce egg weight on the line below the bead.

5
Place a second rubber bead on the line below the egg weight. Attach a barrel swivel to the end of your main line with a uni knot.
