How to Activate a JCPenney Card
JCPenney department stores offer a rewards credit card to customers with good credit history. Once you apply for a JCPenney credit card, you are instantly approved or denied; if approved your credit card arrives by mail in seven to 10 business days. JCPenney credit card holders can use the account 24 hours after approval by presenting a driver's license to the customer service department at any JCPenney store. You will be issued a temporary card to use until your permanent card arrives. When your permanent card arrives, activate it prior to use.

Open your credit card when it arrives in the mail. Check to see if the card has a sticker on it with activation instructions. Some cards require activation, others don't.

Call the number on the activation sticker. Listen to the automated prompts on the activation phone line and follow the instructions.

Enter the 16-digit number located on the front of your credit card when prompted. Wait while the card is activated; once activation is complete an automated voice informs you that activation is complete and you can begin using your card.
