How to Fix a Foam Board

How to Fix a Foam Board thumbnail
You'll need a sheet of rigid cardboard to fix bent foam board.

Foam board is a durable, rigid material that provides a stronger alternative to poster board or card stock. Foam board has a middle foam layer made of polystyrene between two glossy or matte exterior boards. While the board is user-friendly and strong, yet easy to cut, it's not indestructible. If you're moving the board and bump or knock it against something, it can bend, losing its rigidity. Luckily, you can repair it yourself.

Things You'll Need

  • Measuring tape
  • 1/4-inch-thick cardboard
  • Utility knife

Instructions

    • 1

Measure your piece of foam board. Write down the measurements.

    • 2

Cut a piece of cardboard with your utility knife to the exact measurements of the foam board. Spray it with an adhesive.

    • 3

Press the foam board against the cardboard firmly, focusing extra pressure on the area where the foam board is bent. Hold it in this position for five minutes or so. Allow it to fully set overnight before using. The cardboard will act as a buttress for the foam board, keeping it straight and rigid.
