How to Bead a Metal Hoop

Beading metal hoops forms the basis for a number of beginner bead projects, including DIY wine charms to beaded necklaces. When beading metal hoops, choose beads with center holes large enough that they slide over the hoop. Test it out in-store before you buy or ask a salesperson to recommend a thickness. No matter what you're beading, the basic process remains the same. Learn the basics and follow your creative whims.

Instructions

    • 1

Read the instructions that came with your hoop so you know how it opens and closes, or ask someone in the store when you purchase your supplies.

    • 2

Open your metal hoop so the ends are not connected and you can put on beads.

    • 3

Slide your beads onto the hoop by pushing them onto the side that does not have a clasp. Add as many beads as you want.

    • 4

Bend the hoop, if necessary, to secure it. Use needle-nose pliers to bend the metal upward no more than 1/4 inch.

    • 5

Close the hoop. For some hoops, you might thread one end through an eye on the other end, or you might latch the curved ends of the hoop around one another to secure it.
