How to Tie a T-Knot thumbnail
Fishing line is a strong type of cord.

A T-knot is a practical type of fishing knot which anglers most commonly use to securely attach the hook snood to the main snood of a fishing rig. The knot involves looping, twisting and wrapping the fishing line to create a strong T-shaped knot. The fishing knot is traditionally made out of a nylon, polyethylene or dacron single strand fishing line, although you can make it with any type of flexible cord.

Instructions

    • 1

Form a small loop in the middle of the fishing line. Insert one of the ends (known as the hook snood) through the middle of the loop.

    • 2

Hold the bottom of the loop and the hook snood in between your thumb and index finger. Wrap the loose end of the hook snood around the loop six times. Insert the end of the hook snood underneath the last wrapped loop and pull it firmly.

    • 3

Pick up the other end of the wrapped loop, which is called the main snood. Twist the main snood to produce a loop. Twist the loop and pinch the slot formed by the twist. Continue to pass the loop back through itself until you have created about six twists in the loop.

    • 4

Insert the hook snood through the slot in the main snood. Pull both of the ends of the main snood firmly to complete the T-knot.
