To check your unemployment claim online, you will need to determine whether the information you need is available online and the precise location of your state's benefits or claims system.

Contact your state's department or division of labor, employment or unemployment insurance and ask a representative for the relevant Web address and the title and location of the benefits or claims link you need to click to access the claims system. Two examples of benefits or claims link titles are "Claiming Benefits" or "Claims Filing System."

Go to the Web address provided, click the link or links that the representative gave you and then read the instructions on the page for accessing claims information.

Enter your secure login information as directed on the page to access the system. Typically, this involves providing your Social Security Number to log in and then setting up a personal identification number, or PIN, to use in the future. Once you've accessed the system, review the claim information provided by your state.

Click your state on the map, or state link below the map, and then click the link on the next page that leads to the website that will have information about unemployment insurance in your state. If a link doesn't take you straight to the unemployment page, locate the benefits or unemployment link on the page that opens and click it to find the information that you need.
States usually only allow access to an online unemployment systems during the normal business hours of the division or department that handles unemployment claims.
Your state may require that you continue to use your Social Security Number every time you use the system after the initial setup. Login requirements vary by state.
