How to Make a Crochet Pumpkin Pendant
Surprise party-goers or trick-or-treaters with a small pumpkin pendant you can crochet yourself. It takes very little yarn to make the small balls of single crochet rounds. Choose different-size hooks for a pumpkin that is at least 2 inches in diameter. These simple balls can be attached to silk cording, lanyard string, 1/4-inch-wide ribbon or a necklace chain. You should be able to whip up several in one evening or while watching a movie.

1
Make a chain of two stitches with orange yarn and an E, F or G crochet hook. Make six single crochet stitches in the second chain on the hook. This will make a small circular shape. Tie a piece of string or clip a stitch marker onto the last stitch to mark the end of the row.
-
2
Make two single crochets in each stitch around the circle for a total of 12 single-crochet stitches. Remove the stitch marker and place it into the last stitch. Continue the next row by crocheting two single crochet stitches in each stitch for 24 stitches.
-
-
3
Make a single crochet in each of the 24 stitches around the circle. Mark the last stitch.
-
4
Decrease the stitches in the next row by making a single crochet in every other stitch for a total of 12 stitches. Remove the stitch marker.
-
5
Remove the crochet hook. Pull the yarn to create a long loop at the last stitch. This will keep the stitches from being pulled out. Fill the small pumpkin shape with fiberfill until it is firm and round.
-
6
Shorten the long loop and replace the crochet hook. Make a stitch in every other stitch for six final stitches. Make a slip stitch in the last stitch. Cut the yarn leaving a 6-9-inch tail. Thread the end of the yarn tail into a darning needle. Sew the end of the pumpkin closed. Cut the yarn to a 1-2-inch tail. Weave the remaining yarn into the pumpkin body to hide it.
-
7
Cut a 6-inch piece of green yarn. Thread the yarn into the darning needle and pull the two ends until they match up evenly.
-
8
Push the needle through the top of the pumpkin and straight down through the bottom. Remove the needle. Tie the two ends into a knot at the bottom of the pumpkin, leaving the top loop for the hanger. Place a dot of fabric glue over the knot to adhere it in place against the bottom of the rounded pendant.
