How to Edit a Header & Footer in Open Office

Open Office is a free productivity software suite that includes a word processor that's similar to Microsoft Word. As is the case with Word, Open Office allows you to insert headers and footers into your documents to provide titles, page numbers and other information not suited for the body of your document. Editing a header or footer on an Open Office document is a quick, simple process.

Instructions

    • 1

Scroll to the page of the document where the header or footer you want to edit appears. Open the "Format" drop-down menu, then click "Page."

    • 2

Click the "Header" or "Footer" tab. Use the arrows to change the header's or footer's margins, spacing or height. Click the "Edit" button at the bottom of the tab to access the header's or footer's content.

    • 3

Click your mouse inside either of the three fields that appears -- Open Office has separate fields for left-, center- and right-aligned headers and footers. Input new text to supplement existing header or footer content and delete any you no longer wish to keep. Click "OK."
