Background images can be anything that appeals to you

Add a custom background to your Formspring profile to add whimsy or share more personal information. Use the dimensions of your browser as a guide to set up your format. You can design an image, choose a photograph you like or design a background that delivers a more specific message. Design a large image that fills the entire browser window. You can also design a small image and set it to tile throughout your background.

Instructions

  1. Background Image Setup

    • 1

Click the "Settings" link in the header bar on the right side, and then click on the "Profile design" tab to see the Formspring backgrounds from which you can choose. Below that is the area for you to upload your custom image.

    • 2

Scroll down the page to see the "Custom Background Image" area. Click the browse button to navigate to wherever you saved your image and select it.

    • 3

Click the "Save" button at the bottom of the page in Formspring to upload and save your image. You can check your handiwork when it appears as your new background.

    • 4

Add a color hexadecimal code in the "Custom Background Color" area. Use this option to coordinate your background color if you should use only a border image; don't select the "Tile Background" box.

Tips & Warnings

  • Save your image at 72 to 80 dpi resolution for the Web to keep a small file size. If you want to keep your background simple, don't add or select an image. Instead, just add the color. Visit W3 Schools color picker to get the hexadecimal code for your color choice. You can choose from designs available at Formspring or other sites on the web. Search the term "formspring backgrounds" to see all the places that offer designs from which you can choose. If you designed or are using a small image that you want to repeat throughout your background, remember to select the "Tile Background" option on the Settings page.

  • Be aware that browsers and computers may display your background very differently even obscuring all your design. Toolbars detract from the browser's viewing real estate, which can impact the visibility of your background.
