How to Ping an Open Port

An open port on a computer network is used to send data from a router or a cable modem to a different computer. Pinging is a process through the Command Prompt on the system that gives a user a report of whether or not the ping gets to the computer. Users ping computers' open ports to make sure the computers are online.
