How to Get Your Resume Noticed Online
Due to the immense popularity of job boards, many job seekers find themselves lost in a sea of similarly qualified applicants. If you wish to obtain a new job, impress recruiters with a well-tailored resume filled with appropriate key words. To attract additional attention, create a blog for your resume or contact people who work in your desired field using social networking websites.
Instructions

-
1
Read over your resume and remove any spelling or formatting errors.
-
2
Look through job listings for positions you desire. Scan the listing to determine which words you see over and over. Write a list of key words and phrases on a piece of paper. Possible key phrases might include "problem solving," "communication skills," "Windows 7 experience" and "Photoshop savvy."
-
-
3
Add key phrases to your resume where appropriate. Revise your description of job duties or your skills section, replacing generic language with these terms. For example, replace "Understand Windows and Mac" with "Windows 7 experience" and "Mac OS X proficient."
-
4
Sharpen your resume's language. Remove obvious statements and passive voice. For example, instead of writing "answered phones," write "organized interoffice communication."
-
5
Upload your resume to multiple job websites. Website possibilities include Monster, LinkedIn and CareerBuilder.
-
6
Update your resume at least once per month to show recruiters your commitment to finding a new job.
-
7
Create a blog for your resume. Visit a website that offers free blogs and create an account that uses your full name as your user name. Write an entry that contains your career history, another that lists your resume and others detailing aspects of yourself that may help viewers form a professional impression of who you are. If possible, include links to samples of your work.
-
8
Post your resume on diversity-related job boards and organizations. In addition to ethnic diversity, don't overlook job boards designed for women, those with disabilities, or people with a specific family history, for example.
-
9
Create a Twitter or Facebook account for your job search. Include a link to your resume or blog and "Friend" people who work in the fields where you wish to work. Write job-related information in your status updates or tweets.
