How to Convert Arabic Subtitles to English Ones
Whether you are a professional translator or simply someone who is bilingual, translating subtitles from one language to another will allow you to globalize content, making it accessible for those who don't understand the language spoken in the video. This feat can be accomplished without special software. For most people, a simple text editor will suffice. You won't even need to match the subtitles to the video, since the original file already does that for you.
Instructions
-
-
1
Obtain an Arabic .srt (SubRip) file from websites that offer free subtitles online. SRT files are files containing subtitles that will display on-screen when you play a video.
-
2
Open the original Arabic.srt (SubRip) file by right-clicking it and selecting "Open with..." Select your preferred text editor from the options. For a Windows computer, Notepad will suffice.
-
-
3
Save the file by clicking "File" then "Save As..." and rename it to include the words "English Version." This backs up your file and allows you to reference the original later on.
-
4
Scroll down to the first entry and make a new line under the Arabic writing by pressing "Enter."
-
5
Translate the Arabic into English. Delete the Arabic version on the line above.
-
6
Repeat this process until all the entries are translated. Save the file.
