How to Put Stones Into a Socketed Item in the Game World of Warcraft

Gems can be placed into a character's armor and weapons in "World of Warcraft." Most gems come in red, blue, yellow, green, purple, orange, prismatic and meta varieties. A blue slot in a piece of armor will give the character a bonus if a blue gem is placed in it. A green gem will work in a blue and yellow slot, a purple gem works in a red and blue slot, and a yellow gem works in a red and yellow slot. A prismatic slot will give the bonus from any colored gem. A blue gem can be placed into a red clot, but no bonus will be awarded. A prismatic gem fits any color slot, and a meta gem fits only in head slots.

Instructions

    • 1

Press the "Shift" key and right-click the item simultaneously. The item is the piece you will install the gem into. A small window will open. This window shows the number of gem slots available for the item.

    • 2

Drag and drop the gem into the gem socket. If the gem matches the socket, the socket bonus text will turn white; otherwise, it will remain gray.

    • 3

      Click the "Socket Gems" button.

Tips & Warnings

  • The meta gem requires a certain number of other gems to be installed in your equipment to work properly. So if your meta gem says "3 red gems," this means you have to have three red gems installed somewhere on your equipment for the meta gem to work.

  • Once the gem is placed inside an item, it cannot be removed. You can, however, place another gem on top of it, destroying the old gem.
