How to Tank Wailing Caverns As a Warrior in "World of Warcraft"
In "World of Warcraft," Wailing Caverns is a low-level instance located in The Barrens. The instance is straightforward, with one main path from the entrance to the final boss. As a tank, your job is to ensure all enemies focus on you instead of the more vulnerable members of your party. You should be around level 18 to 20 to successfully tank the instance, which means you will not yet have all of the abilities of a top-tier tanking Warrior. Tanking in low-level instances is often more complex than it is in instances later in the game, due to your limited abilities.

1
Spec into the Protection talent tree. If you want to tank as a Warrior, you have to be Protection-specced, especially at lower levels. Every character in "World of Warcraft" has three talent trees from which to choose. Warrriors can select Protection, Arms or Fury, but Protection is the main tanking tree.

2
Equip the best defensive armor you have. A tank's job is not to do damage, but to take it. Better defensive armor frees up your healer and allows more wiggle room in sticky situations.

3
Let your group know that you will be pulling. Pulling is the act of attacking mobs of enemies and drawing them to your party. If you get the initial hit, you will have a brief aggro spike, which allows you to better control the mobs in a group and keep them away from party members. Mobs are stationed around Wailing Caverns in small groups; a good pull will result in your party fighting only one group at a time. Pulling mob groups toward your party prevents the accidental triggering of additional mobs that may be patrolling or nearby.
-
4
Remind your damage-dealers to take it easy until you have built aggro on each creature. Aggro is what determines which player a monster attacks; if someone in your group surpasses you in aggro generation, the affected creature will charge that person and will likely kill them.
-
5
Apply Sunder Armor to all of the mobs you fight. At low levels, Sunder is your best aggro-building ability.
-
6
Toss a quick Taunt at any enemy that stops focusing on you and looks to another member of your party. A Taunt buys you a brief period to build more aggro on that specific enemy.
-
7
Progress through Wailing Caverns by carefully pulling one group at a time. Because this is a low-level instance, simply keeping enemies off your party will get you to the end.
-
8
Kill all of the eight bosses in Wailing Caverns to complete the instance. Each boss is a little different, but if you serve the primary role of absorbing damage, your party should have no trouble downing them.

Tips & Warnings
Tanks are often looked at as the group leader, as they usually set the pace for pulls. If you want to tank in "WoW," be prepared to lead the group by making decisions, giving commands and marking targets.
While you need to be Protection-specced to tank, you can take advantage of "WoW's" dual-spec skill to give yourself two separate talent builds. This allows you to quickly swap to Protection to tank an instance and then switch back to Fury or Arms for solo questing.
