Use a stencil to create perfect designs.

Inking your computer can help customize it and "make it yours." A computer obviously does not have flesh to tattoo like a human, so paint will need to be used. Fortunately, the options for painting are many; airbrushing, spray painting, acrylics and oil can all be used on the computer. Always make sure not to put paint on the vents or electronic components of the computer; paint should only go on the housing or case. Decals and stickers can also be applied to a computer.

Instructions

  1. Paint the Computer

    • 1

Measure the canvas (case) of the computer and determine what design will fit best.

    • 2

Unplug the computer, remove all cables and peripherals.

    • 3

Cover all open ports and fans with tape. This will prevent paint from going into the computer.

    • 4

Apply the paint to the computer. Be careful and take your time. Making a mistake may be difficult to undo.

    • 5

Wait for the paint to dry.

    Decals and Stickers

    • 6

Turn off and unplug the computer. Measure the area on the computer where the decal or sticker will go.

    • 7

Purchase a sticker or decal that fits the measured area. The case of a computer is an acceptable surface for the majority of adhesives in stickers and decals.

    • 8

Clean the area where the sticker will go using a moist paper towel. Wait for it to dry.

    • 9

Remove the protective backing on the back of the decal or sticker.

    • 10

Carefully apply the sticker to the case of the computer. Do not apply over any fans or vents. Press down the decal or sticker to make sure it is securely attached.

Tips & Warnings

  • Different paints have different properties. Airbrushing is for very fine detailed work. Spray paint is for solid colors or for use with a stencil. Acrylic paints are cheaper and oil paints give more texture. The choice depends on what the artist is seeking.
