How Do I Confirm Priority Mail? thumbnail
The USPS allows you to track and confirm your priority mail through its Delivery Confirmation and Signature Confirmation services.

Whether you are sending Priority Mail domestically or internationally, knowing where your package is at all times, when it arrives at its destination and who signs for it can give you tremendous peace of mind. Priority Mail generally arrives within two or three business days, depending on the recipient destination. The U.S. Postal Service offers Delivery Confirmation and Signature Confirmation services that will allow you to use its online database to track your package, obtain information about its location and receive notifications about its status.

Instructions

    • 1

Go to your local U.S. Postal Service facility. Fill out a Delivery Confirmation or Signature Confirmation slip. You will need to fill out only the recipient's shipping address. Present the slip and your parcel to the clerk in order to receive a tracking number that will allow you to check the status of your shipment online.

Go to the United States Postal Service Track & Confirm site (see Resources) and type in your delivery or signature confirmation number in the section box labeled "Track & Confirm." Press the "Go" button to receive an update about your Priority Mail shipment's current location and delivery status.

Review the information on your Priority Mail shipment. Each time your parcel or letter is scanned at a USPS sorting facility, the database will update your shipment so you can track your package as it travels to its final destination. Once your shipment is with a USPS mail carrier to be delivered, the status of your shipment will be marked as "Out for Delivery." Once the recipient receives the shipment, the status will be marked "Shipment Received."

Enter your E-mail address in the text box under the section "Track & Confirm by email." Choose the "E-mail all activity to-date" option to have USPS send you the details for only the current tracking information. To have USPS send you details about the current tracking information and future activity regarding your shipment, select the "E-mail all future activity" button.

Verify who signed for your package. Click the "Go" button under the "Proof of Delivery" option. Enter your first and last name and select whether you want to receive proof of delivery via email, fax or mail. Enter your email address, fax number or mailing address. The USPS will then send you written evidence that proves your package was delivered. If you purchased the "Signature Confirmation" service and did not waive signature, you will be sent a copy of the signature of the person who signed for the package.
