Match.com is a subscription based dating site that dates back to 1995. Creating a basic Match.com account is free, but "free" users are unable to contact other site users. If you are interesting in joining Match.com, but aren't sure if your desired username is available, you can try registering with the site to see if it goes through. If the screen name does not go through, Match.com will give an opportunity to choose another screen name.

Visit Match.com, and click "Member Sign In."

Scroll down, and click "Join For Free."

Type your email address, birthday, zip code, country and who you're looking for (man or woman).

Input your username in the "Select a Username" field. Choose a password in the "Password" box.

Click on "Continue." If the username is available, your registration is complete. You'll receive the activation link in your email inbox. If the username is not available, the system will let you know and suggest another username for you, or give you the opportunity to try another.
