How to Set Up Zen Cart Attributes
Zen Cart is an online store management tool that provides users with an admin panel that controls all the e-commerce tasks on a website. Zen Cart allows you to add different products to your website that are featured on your store. Each of these products has attributes that can be edited. The attributes define the order of your products, as well as the price and any customizations you want to make for products.

Access your Zen Cart admin panel. This is the URL given to you when you first installed Zen Cart. Enter your user name and password to access the admin panel. Select "Catalog" from the menu, then "Option Name Manager." This allows you to set different attributes for each product.

Type in your "Option Name." This may be something such as "Color" if you are selling clothes that come in a variety of colors. Select "Option Type," as well. You can select "Drop-down," "Radio Button," "Check Box" or "Text Box." You also can choose "Read Only." This will display your attribute without making it changeable by your customer. This is useful if you have only one option. Select "Insert" when you are finished.

Go back to your admin panel and select "Catalog," then "Option Value Manager." This allows you to define the values that can be selected. Under "Option Name," click the drop-down menu and select which option name for which you want to set values. In this case, change "Color." Under "Option Value," enter one of the possible options for customers to choose, such as "Red." Select "Insert."

Repeat entering values until you have entered in every option for the product. You may do this for several option names. For instance, you may want to define color, size and style.

Go back to the admin panel and select "Catalog," then "Product Price Manager." You will see a list of all the products you have in your store. Click on the product to which you want to add the attributes you just defined and click "Attribute Manager."

Click on the list of attributes under "Option Name." You will see all of the attributes you just created. To add an attribute to your product, select "Insert." This attribute will be added to your product on your online store.
