How to Court a Girl

How to Court a Girl thumbnail
Courting is all about the possibility of a future together.

Although the two terms are sometimes used interchangeably, dating and courting are not the same. In general, dating is the recreational act of spending time with someone, either for the purpose of having fun or to fulfill your own personal needs at the time. Courtship, on the other hand, is the time two people spend together exploring the possibility of romance and marriage. Dating can be serious or not. But to court a girl, you'll have to demonstrate a certain level of commitment, maturity and love.

Instructions

    • 1

Speak to your parent or an adult who knows you very well and as whether or not they think you are prepared to work toward marriage. Since the goal of courtship is to find a future spouse, it's important that others can vouch for your maturity.

    • 2

Make a list, either written or verbal, of all the character traits that you'd like to have in your future wife. Consider the things that are most important to you, such as your religion and morals. Then round out your list with all the qualities you'd want in a lifelong friend, such as trustworthiness and loyalty.

    • 3

Live your life as you normally do, engaging in your favorite hobbies and activities. Also, plan to try something new once in a while so as to meet new people. Eventually, you'll meet a girl who shares the same interests as you and is also ready to be courted.

Approach the girl's father, once she says it's okay, and ask for permission to court his daughter. If her father is unavailable, ask her mother. Just as your parent or mentor has decided that you're ready to start courting, the young lady's family must also agree that she's ready. This will save you the trouble of spending time with a girl that's immature or not yet serious about her future.

Plan a few public dates so that you can get to know the girl. Depending on your age, you might even consider bringing along a chaperone. Overall, you want to have a good time and learn new things about your potential future wife. But in the midst of all the fun, don't forget to look for the ideal traits that were on your list.
