How to Block Mail on AOL
Not all incoming mail is wanted, as spam mail can make its way to your in-box if your email address falls prey to Internet scamming sites. Although deleting the email takes only a second, a flood of spam mail can quickly fill up your in-box and may contain viruses or spyware. In the America Online mail settings you have the option to block specific email addresses or domains, or allow emails from email addresses in your contact list.

Tips & Warnings
Click "Allow Mail Only From People I Know" in the "Sender Filter" drop-down menu to block all emails expect those who are in your address book, and those you have previously emailed. For the highest level of security, click "Block Mail From All Senders" in the "Sender Filter" drop-down menu to disable receiving emails on your AOL account.
While blocking a domain address prevents spam from the specific domain, it also restricts all users with that domain in their email address. This mail block includes contacts stored in your address book coming from the blocked domain.
