How to Create an Argument in a Debate
A debate is a discussion on a specific topic, in which opposing view points are put forward. In order to win a debate one must not only present evidence to support his opinion, but he must also be able to offer rebuttal to the attacks by his opponent. Preparing for a debate requires conducting research on your viewpoint so as to have enough responses for your opponent, as well as researching the opposing viewpoint to plan your attack.

1
Choose a side. When given a topic for debate, choose the side you are more passionate about, as this will help you plan a more compelling argument.
-
2
Conduct research on the debate topic. Gather information that supports your viewpoint, as well as that of your opponent. You need to have as much ammunition as possible to support your stance, but you also need to understand your opponents position to better understand his attack and be prepared to offer a rebuttal to his arguments.

3
Plan your attack. Decide which points to lead off with first. Do you start with your strongest arguments first, or save the best for last? Anticipate your opponents arguments and prepare your responses.
