How to Trap Wild Pigs
Feral pigs can be a real nuisance when they start congregating on your property, as they are aggressive animals that can pose a danger to you and pets. Or, you may just want to harvest them for food. Wild pigs probably came to the United States centuries ago with Spanish explorers, and served as a source of food for early settlers. Since then, the hogs have grown in numbers. You should check the laws in your state or locality, but generally the animals are unprotected, non-game animals, so you can trap them at any time of year.

1
Pre-bait an area where you believe hogs like to gather with food a week in advance to keep them coming back.
-
2
Place the trap on flat ground and leave a trail of bait from the outside of the trap to the door and the inside. Put fresh dirt inside and weave branches into the wire to make it look inviting to the pigs.
-
-
3
Add some raccoon urine or some urine from a sow in heat.
-
4
Check the trap in the morning, as hogs usually feed at night. Don't leave the trap unattended for a day or longer, as the hog may die.
-
5
Shoot the hog from a distance, as they can become very aggressive when you are near the cage and may damage it.
