How to Become a Starbucks Barista

Working as a Starbucks barista is not as stress-free as the coffee shop environment.

Drinking coffee and relaxing in a laid-back coffee shop setting may feel stress-free, but working as a barista behind the counter can be a different story. While prior experience as a barista is not a necessary requirement to work at Starbucks, Starbucks baristas are expected to learn quickly on the job on how to make drinks and provide excellent customer service. Although the first step is to apply for the Starbucks barista position, what sets a successful barista apart is the amount of knowledge he receives from hands-on training and training manuals.

• Social Security number and driver's license
• Starbucks training manual

Instructions

1. Go to your local Starbucks coffee shop and ask an employee or manager for a barista application. You can also fill out and submit the barista application online. Make sure to have your Social Security information and driver's license available when filling out the application.

2. Study the training material manual carefully and thoroughly once you have been accepted as a potential Starbucks barista. The training manuals will teach you everything from how to greet customers and take orders to the types of drink-making equipment.

3. Pass the written exam to become a Starbucks barista. Although you may not have experience making beverages, the shift supervisors and store managers will train you on how to use all the equipment and which ingredients and proportions to use for each beverage.
