How to Transfer Peel-Off Stenciling
Use stencils to add decoration or a personal touch to wood, fabric, metal and other surfaces. Peel-off stenciling is made to temporarily stick to the surface as a stencil for painting, and to be easily removed after painting is complete. Peel-off stenciling is easy to transfer and use, although layering of stenciled designs can be complicated. Carefully plan the procedure so that you apply the layers of paint in the correct order and place the stencils in the correct location.

1
Paint the surface with the base color of paint. Allow to dry completely. Position the stencil on the surface and secure it using small pieces of masking tape.
-
2
Dip your sponge in water and wet the backing paper on the stencil. Keep adding water and pressing the stencil onto the surface until the backing paper begins to peel away.
-
-
3
Remove the masking tape and carefully peel the backing paper off the stencil.
-
4
Fill in the stencil with paint. Immediately use a fingernail or other blunt tool to lift an edge of the stencil not covered by paint. Peel off the entire stencil, careful not to disturb the paint.
-
5
Allow the paint to dry completely before applying another stencil, or applying a clear coat protectant.
