A few fans, strategically placed, can remove humidity effectively.

Excessive humidity inside a home leads to rotting of the structure and mold and fungus growth, all of which creates an environment not suitable for human habitation. After experiencing a flooded basement, leaky plumbing or roof damage, it is best to ventilate the house with fans to extract as much moisture as possible. By placing several fans in specific locations, you can remove the excessive moisture or humidity quickly. Does this Spark an idea?

Open the front door to the home and secure it with a door wedge placed at the bottom.

    • 2

Set up one of the box fans in the doorway to blow air into the home.

    • 3

Open the rear entrance to the home and secure the door in this position with a door wedge. If your home doesn't have a rear entrance, any opening will work for this task. Any two openings in the home can work. The goal is to move air through the house at an accelerated pace.

Set up another box fan in the doorway or other rear opening to blow air out of the home.

Tips & Warnings

  • For more ventilation, open all of the windows. Additional fans can be set up at each window. Remember to balance the amount of fans blowing air into the house with fans blowing out.
