How to Make a Feather Wand
If your child enjoys pretending to be a fairy, you can encourage this interest in pretend play by giving your child a feathery magic wand that she can use to grant wishes. Although you can buy a feathery magic wand from a toy store, it can be expensive and may not be constructed well. Make a feather wand for your child using a few materials that can be purchased inexpensively from a craft supply store.
Things You'll Need
- 1/4 inch wide wooden dowel
- Tacky glue
- 2 inches wide foam craft ball
- White acrylic paint
- Small feathers

1
Squeeze a dollop of tacky glue onto the end of a wooden dowel, then press a 2-inch foam craft ball onto the glued end. Hold the foam ball in place for three minutes or until the glue dries and the ball is secured to the dowel.

2
Paint the dowel and the foam craft ball with white acrylic paint, then let the paint dry for 30 minutes.

-
3
Cover the foam ball with tacky glue and lay small feathers over the glue-covered ball. Cover the ball completely with feathers. Allow the glue to dry for 30 minutes.
-
4
Squeeze glitter glue around the wooden dowel into patterns, such as swirls, dots or spirals. Allow the glitter glue to dry for 30 minutes.
-
5
Cut two pieces of ribbon to measure 12 inches long each. Tie the ribbons around the wooden dowel to complete the feather wand.
