How to Make Fake Facebook Conversations

As Facebook becomes increasingly ubiquitous in pop culture, its familiar conversation format -- an initial post followed by a thread of responses, each one accompanied by the name and profile picture of the user who posted it -- has become ripe for jokes and parody. With the Fake Convos Web application, you can quickly generate what will appear to be Facebook conversations between anyone you like -- celebrities, fictional characters, actual Facebook users or even abstract concepts.

Instructions

    • 1

Point your browser to the Fake Convos website and click "Create a new convo."

    • 2

Enter a name for your first fake Facebook user in the "Name of commenter" field and choose an image to act as the user's profile picture by clicking "Paste a URL" and entering the address of any image online.

    • 3

Enter what you want this user to say in the "Comment" box and click "Add to Stream." The comment you typed will appear in the preview area as if it were a Facebook post.

    • 4

Add responses to the initial post by entering new names, picture URLs and comments. Each time you click "Add to Stream," a new comment will appear in the preview area in the standard Facebook format. In this way you can construct a thread of comments as long as you want -- all of them from fake users.

    • 5

Enter a name for the conversation in the "Save and share" section, then click "Save it."

    • 6

Press your keyboard's "Print Screen" button to take a screenshot of the completed Facebook conversation. On some operating systems, this will bring up a dialog box allowing you to save the screenshot as an image file immediately; on others, it will only send the image to the "Copy" buffer, in which case you can open any image editing program and use the "Paste" command to insert the image in a new file.
