How to Find My 2Wire WPA

How to Find My 2Wire WPA thumbnail
Locate and replace your 2Wire passkey to regain control over your wireless network.

The 2Wire's Wi-Fi Protected Access (WPA) key is typically found on a label located on the 2Wire gateway, and is your personal access key that is required to connect to your DSL connection through your computer or wireless mobile device. The 2Wire passkey is set to WEP by default and can be changed to WPA through the 2Wire system page, which maintains your passwords, security configuration and firewall configuration. If you forget the WPA key, you can change it through the system page to replace the previous passkey with a new one.

Instructions

    • 1

Turn the 2Wire Gateway on its side to locate the security key, located in brackets on the bottom or side of the device.

    • 2

Open your Internet browser, and open the 2Wire Gateway system page (see Resources).

    • 3

Click "Home Network" at the top of the System page, and click "Wireless Settings." Click the "Authentication" drop-down menu, and click "WPA-PSK" from the drop-down menu.

    • 4

Click "Use custom encryption key" and enter the new key in the blank key field.

    • 5

Click "Save" to apply the new encryption key to your Gateway. Open your computer's network preferences and update your network with the new encryption key.
