Apple makes it easy to remove the keys using a basic tool and a little bit of force. Remove keys to replace them with new ones, or to clean your Macbook's keyboard.

Instructions

    • 1

Shut down your Macbook and bring it to a table for safety. Make sure the screen is open, exposing the keys.

    • 2

Inspect the edge of the key you want to remove. You'll see a small opening between the key and the base of the keyboard.

    • 3

Insert a flat tool or object, such as a precision screwdriver or toothpick between the keyboard and the key.

    • 4

Grasp the other end of the key between your fingers. Pull the key upward using the tool, and simultaneously pull upward with your fingers. The key should pop off easily. Repeat the process as needed.
