Create a scary clown face using makeup.

Although clowns make most people smile with their childlike antics, for someone with coulrophobia, the mere sight of a joyful clown instills fear and terror in them. Regardless if you suffer from coulrophobia or not, a scary or killer clown costume is a frightening sight. If you want to dress as a killer clown for Halloween or your next costume party, you could purchase a killer clown mask from a costume store. Alternatively, to save money, use Halloween face paint and costume teeth to make your own scary clown face.

Instructions

    • 1

Place a headband in your hair to pull all hair away from your face. Wash your face with soap and water. Dry it with a towel.

    • 2

Apply white face paint to your entire face using a makeup sponge. Start by putting a small amount of paint on your nose and spread it with the sponge. Apply a small amount to each cheek and spread it around. Then, apply a small amount to your forehead and spread it around. Cover your eyelids, your eyebrows and lips with the paint. Finish with your chin, spreading the paint down your neck.

    • 3

Place a small amount of blue and purple face paint on a paper plate. Swirl with a makeup brush to combine. Dip a clean makeup sponge in the mixed paint. Dab the paint under you lower eyelid. Dip the sponge in the paint again, and dab the blue paint all over the upper eyelid and up to the bottom of the eyebrow to create a bruised look.

    • 4

Apply black face paint to a makeup brush. Paint a triangular shape for eyebrows on the brow bone and lower forehead, leaving the bottom of the triangle open.

    • 5

Use a makeup brush to paint a 1-inch triangle below both eyes, starting 1/2 inch below the eyelid and using red face paint.

    • 6

Draw a line around your mouth using black face paint, making the mouth into an exaggerated smile. Paint the area inside the line using red face paint, including your lips. Wear a pair of jagged, costume teeth.

    • 7

Coat the end of a cotton swap in dark gray face paint. Draw three lines across the width of your forehead to create wrinkles. Start the first line 2 inches in from the left edge of your hairline and end the line 2 inches in from the right edge of your hairline, in the center of the forehead. Place the second and third line each 1/2 inch below the one above and make them each 1/2 inch shorter than the one above.

    • 8

Paint two round circles on your cheeks using red face paint.

    • 9

Draw one or two cuts on your face by drawing short lines with red face paint. Apply fake blood to the lines, letting the blood drip down your face.

    • 10

Wear a traditional red clown nose or paint a small red circle on the tip of your nose. Finish the look by wearing a clown wig.
