Pay an approximate $10,000 fee to qualify on the ballot or have roughly 5,000 signatures of support. The monetary fee varies from year to year and must be paid to the Supervisor of Elections Office in the county in which you you live. For signatures of support, Form DS-DE 104, Candidate Petition, (Rev. 10-10), must be used to by registered voters. The form is available at http://election.myflorida.com/forms/index.shtml. The form must be duplicated by the candidate and cannot be altered in any way.

Qualify for the ballot by June 8 of that year and declare a party you wish to represent. A past history with that party should already have been formed at the local level.

Raise campaign funds sufficient to complete a run for Congress. One-half million dollars or more is generally necessary to cover the costs of a successful campaign.

Form a campaign committee to assist you with your efforts at gaining supporters among registered voters. Canvassing neighborhoods asking questions and informing them of your views is very important to raise your public profile and broaden support.
