How to Unlock Gambit in "Marvel Vs. Capcom 2"
Players need to beat Abyss in "Marvel Vs. Capcom 2" in order to unlock and play the game with Gambit, one of the Marvel X-Men. Abyss is the final boss in the game. You can use any character combination you want to defeat him, but it's more efficient to use characters you know well. The fight lasts for three stages; Abyss takes a different form during each stage.

Select a character to play from the main screen. Select two other characters to act as alternates. Choose characters that have strong blocking and high damage attacks. Enter the "Score Attack" mode.

Shoot or punch Abyss during stage one of the fight. Abyss will attack you, so block him as much as possible to prevent dying. You don't need to use any major attacks during this stage. He will die in this stage, but the fight isn't over.

Move away from Abyss while you shoot at him during the second stage until he dies again. Jump around to avoid the green bubbles. Use special moves during this stage.

Hit Abyss repeatedly. Jump away from him as much as possible. He will disappear and reappear as he does in stage two, so watch all parts of the screen. Bursts of lava will shoot up from the ground and hurt you, so do not stand still.

Return to the character selection screen. Purchase Gambit from the menu.
