How to Make a Check out to a Minor thumbnail
Bank checks to minors and adults are completed the same way.

Writing a check is typically a chore you complete when you are paying your monthly bills, but sometimes you find yourself writing a check to stick in greeting card for some event or another. On occasion, the person you are writing a check to is a minor child. Rest assured that writing a check to minor is done the same way as writing one to an adult or business.

Instructions

    • 1

Write the date on the top of the check on the line marked "Date."

    • 2

Place the name of the minor child on the line marked "Payee." Use the child's first and last name. In the box immediately to the right of the payee line write the amount of the check. For example, if the check is for $100.00 you write "100.00." There is a dollar sign to the left of the box.

    • 3

Write out the amount of the check in full terms on the line below the payee line. The blank line is followed by the term "Dollars." For example, write "one hundred and no/100."

    • 4

Sign the check on the signature line at the bottom right corner of the check. Give the check to the minor to cash or deposit.
