How to Fix Your Browser From Redirecting

Media websites that refresh the page or redirect to a different page after a set time is a technique that is used to update content. However, this type of browser redirection is also used by malicious websites to run a script or download a virus. To prevent redirection on a Web page, you need to make a change to a setting that is found in the Firefox or Internet Explorer Web browser.

Instructions

  1. Firefox

      Double-click the "Mozilla Firefox" icon to open the program. Click the "Firefox" button in the upper left corner of the browser to display a menu.

      Highlight "Options" and then click on "Options" to display the Options menu.

      Go to the "Advanced" tab and put a check in the box for "Warn me when websites try to redirect or reload the page" under the "Accessibility" category.

      Click the "OK" button to save the change.

    Internet Explorer

      Double-click the "Internet Explorer" icon to open the program. Click the "Tools" drop-down menu and select "Internet Options."

      Go to the "Security" tab, select "Custom Level" and then scroll down to the "Miscellaneous" section.

      Select the "Disable" radio button for "Allow Meta Refresh."

      Click the "OK" button to save the change. Click the "OK" button again to close Internet Options.
