How to Reset the Nickname Cache in Outlook

Outlook is an email client that allows users to manage and organize messages from various accounts. When you receive an email from a sender in Outlook, you will see a name associated with their email account. You can set the name that appears to a nickname for the sender. This is really handy when someone who regularly sends you email has a nickname that they go by rather than his or her real name. When you change a nickname in Outlook, the application's cache needs to be reset to reflect the new name.

Instructions

    • 1

      Launch Outlook.

    • 2

Click "File" in the main menu bar. Select "Options."

    • 3

      Click the "Mail" tab.

    • 4

Click the "Empty Auto-Complete List" button on the page. Restart Outlook. The nickname cache will be reset.
