How to Flush an IP Address
An IP address is much like a home address. It's a unique number assigned to each computer connected to the Internet , an ID of sorts for your machine. If you are experiencing problems and errors with your IP address, or if you want to change it for protection purposes, the process is quite easy, especially for those who are technically-minded.

Windows

Turn your computer on, and select the "Start" button. This button can usually be found on the lower-left side of your screen.

Select "Run" from your Start menu once it pops up.

Type "cmd" in the prompt in the "Run" window.

Look for the cmd program to pop up. It will look like a small black DOS window. Type "ipconfig/release" in the prompt.

Type "ipconfig/renew" in the prompt. Doing this will flush your IP address and replace it with a new one.
Macs

Turn your computer on, and go to "System Preferences."

Select "View"and "Network."

Click the "Show" menu and then select "Active Network Ports."

Deselect the "on" option for the Internet port that is selected in the check-box. Press "Apply Now."

Select the "on" check-box again, and press "Apply Now."

Tips & Warnings
When flushing your IP, make sure that all applications and windows are closed.
