How to Ship Porcelain Dolls

How to Ship Porcelain Dollsthumbnail
Porcelain dolls must be packed with great care before being shipped.

Antique dolls can have great sentimental value as collectors' items or as family heirlooms. They can also be very valuable in monetary terms. Some of them are hundreds of years old or from a select, rare collection. If you're shipping a valuable doll, it should be packed with great care to avoid breakage and to ensure that it arrives safely.

    Instructions

    Things You'll Need

    • Bubble wrap
    • Scissors
    • Tape
    • Box (large enough so that there is a 3- to 4-inch allowance on all sides when the doll is placed inside)
    • Peanut shells (enough to fill the whole box)
      • 1

Wrap the head, legs and arms individually in bubble wrap. Use the tape to secure the bubble wrap.

      • 2

Wrap the whole doll carefully in bubble wrap, securing it with tape.

      • 3

Fill the box with 3 to 4 inches of peanut shells. Lay the doll on the shells. Fill the rest of the box with peanut shells.

      • 4

Place a copy of the recipient's name and address on top of the peanut shells. This is in case the outer label is destroyed and the box has to be opened.

      • 5

Seal the box with tape, and label it on the outside normally.

      • 6

Take it to your trusted shipping courier to be shipped, and fill out all necessary forms to obtain insurance on the doll.
