How to Apply Redken Color
Redken color is used in salons all over the world. It can be used to create a fashionable color, to complement highlights or to simply cover grey. Depending on the purpose of the color, it will need to be mixed in different ratios. Mix the color with the correct pro-oxide solution, if the color is lighter than the persons natural hair color. Things You'll Need
- Plastic or latex gloves
- Applicator bottle
- Shower cap
- Hairdryer or heat lamp

Put the gloves on your hands. Hold the applicator bottle with your dominant hand and place your index finger over the tip, to avoid color solution squeezing out. Shake the bottle for about one minute to blend the color prior to application.

Apply the color to dry hair at the scalp first, using the tip of the applicator bottle to make horizontal parts in the hair along the side of the head. Make the parts about 2-inches apart and work your way around the head, until you come back to your starting point.

Hold the ends of the hair in the palm of your non-dominant hand, if the hair is long, and squeeze out color to cover the remaining dry hair.

Check all of the hair for dry patches and use the remaining color in the bottle to cover any hair that is not well coated.

Pile the hair on top of the head neatly and cover it with a shower cap. If the color is EQ, place the person under a hairdryer or headlamp for 15 to 20 minutes. If it is not an EQ color or does not require heat, allow the color to process for 20 minutes.

Rub the tip of a section of hair with a towel. If the color of the towel dried hair is the color you want, it has finished processing; If it is not, allow it to process for two to five minutes and check it again. When it has finished processing, clean it with Redken shampoo and conditioner until all color residue is gone.

Tips & Warnings
If some areas did not develop color as desired after it has been washed. Dry the hair and re-apply the color in only those spots.
If the person has never used Redken color on their hair before, rub a dime size spot behind their ear and wait 48 hours to ensure that no irritation or itching occurs. If the spot is irritated, do not use Redken color on the person.
