How to Create a Macro to Cast Multiple Self-Heals in "World of Warcraft"

For players to become particularly proficient in "World of Warcraft," having at least a basic knowledge of how macros work is a good idea. Using macros can allow you to cast spells and use other abilities more quickly and efficiently. If you are a healing class, you can have a macro that, when pressed a certain number of times, will cast all of your healing spells on yourself or on your target. Macros do not automate such tasks, but they can make things easier by binding multiple tasks to a single button in a particular order.

Instructions

    • 1

Start up your game, log in and load up the character for which you want to create the macro.

    • 2

Click on the icon depicting a speech bubble at the top-left of the chat interface. Select a macro from the pop-up menu. Alternatively, type "/macro" at any time to bring up the macro interface.

    • 3

      Choose "<YourCharacterName> Specific Macros."

    • 4

Select an icon for the macro. The list of icons appears to the right when you create a new macro. It is generally best to use the default icon, which is the red question mark. This icon changes automatically depending on the spell being cast when you activate the macro.

Type in your macro. Remember that each command must begin with a forward slash. Use the "/castsequence" command followed by the name of the spell that you want the macro to cast when the macro is activated. Add extra "/castsequence" commands for the healing spells you want to cast after the first one. For example, if you are a restoration druid, you could use a macro like this:

      /cleartarget

      /castsequence Rejuvenation

      /castsequence Healing Touch

      /castsequence Regrowth

      /castsequence Lifebloom

If you don't have a target, the macro will automatically cast these healing spells on yourself with one spell being cast each time you click the macro. The "/cleartarget" command will clear your target if you already have another target selected.

Drag the macro icon for your new macro onto one of your action bars. The macro is saved automatically, so you can close the macro interface now.
