How to Sew a Rolled Flower Headband
Headbands with rolled fabric flowers are popular on young girls and women alike. Any strip of fabric will work to make your rolled flowers, but it should be coordinated with the fabric strips used to sew the headband itself. The headband and the rolled flowers can be made of the same fabric, or contrasting fabrics that are coordinated. The headband itself is an easy sewing project, and can be made by even novice seamstresses. This is a good project for mothers and daughters to complete together. Does this Spark an idea?

1
Fold the 24-inch strip of fabric in half, and tie a knot in one end. Trim off any excess fabric left past the knot. Add a thin strip of hot glue around the knot. Loosely twist the strip, and wind it around the knot into the glue. Press the twisted section gently into the glue. Add more glue around this section, and twist the strip. Wind it around, and press it into the glue. Repeat until the entire strip has been wound and glued.

Lay the 1.5-inch-wide strip of fabric on top of the 2-inch-wide strip of fabric, both face up. Center it vertically, and stitch the two together by running two parallel lines of stitching about 1/8 of an inch inside the edge of the smaller strip. Finish the edges with a zigzag stitch if your machine allows. If not, leave the edges raw.

Put the headband on by laying it across your head and tying the ends in the back to secure it. Mark where the flowers will go, approximately one inch above the right ear. Remove the headband and place the rolled flowers side by side on the headband. Glue them into place with the hot glue gun. Allow the glue to dry and cool completely before wearing.
