Instructions

    • 1

Add a generous amount of thinset mortar to a bucket.

    • 2

Start adding water, mixing with the thinset mortar. Stop adding water when the thinset mortar is smooth and creamy consistency, like peanut butter.

    • 3

Scoop some thinset mortar using the flat side of the trowel. Using the notched side, spread the thinset mortar across the backside of the tile you're installing. For best results, smooth the thinset mortar from the center of the tile out toward the corners.

    • 4

Check to make sure the thinset mortar is spread evenly on the tile. Also, hold the tile upright to make sure none of the thinset mortar drips off. If it does, then the mixture is too thin and you will have to add more thinset mortar to the mix.

    • 5

Press the tile onto the surface you're applying it to with the thinset mortar side down. Hold for a few seconds to make sure it stays. For vertical surfaces, you may have to hold for a minute or two. Release and continue tiling in this way until you're finished.
