How to Open an HQX File
An HQX file is an archive file primarily for Mac computers, but it may be decompressed and opened on a PC with an unarchiving utility. The HQX file type is a Macintosh BinHex 4 Compressed Archive, and is also known as simply a "Bin-Hex" file. The HQX protocol is primarily used when you are transferring binary files. Once converted to an HQX archive, the file is larger, but it is less likely to become corrupted during transfer. HQX files may be opened with the SmithMicro StuffIt Expander, with versions available for both Mac and PC. The StuffIt Expander may be obtained from my.smithmicro.com.
