Take control of the social media powerhouse Twitter.

One form of social media is Twitter, a Web-based short-form communication portal, where users can send and read short bits of media and information in 140 characters or less. If you're using Twitter for business and monetizing purposes, it's important to be able to keep track of trending topics and other important information that revolves around your company or product, or anything else that is of interest.

Instructions

    • 1

Choose what topics or hashtags (keywords that can be clicked to show all other Tweets in that category) you want retweeted. These can range from the name of your business to the types of work you do or products you sell. It can even cover simply topics you might be interested in.

    • 2

Open Twitter and log in to your account, keeping your homepage up throughout the process.

    • 3

Create a new feed at Yahoo! Pipes, which is a Web content composition tool. To begin the process, click "Create Pipe" on the Yahoo! Pipe Web page.

    • 4

Copy the RSS feed from Twitter using the "search" bar. Once copied, go to the "Pipes" window and drag the "Fetch feed" bar from the left side to the center of the screen. Paste the RSS feed into your recently dragged "Fetch feed" bar. This will allow you to see the feed output at the bottom the screen.

    • 5

Add a filter to your feed by dragging the "Operator > Filter" pipe from the navigation pane to the center of your pipe feed. To block "re-tweets," which can be duplications of messages sent by other users, make certain the filter reads as follows: "Block items that match all of the following: item.title contains RT."

    • 6

Connect all three pipes by clicking and holding on each small circle underneath each item, connecting it to the next pipe (from Step 5), then connecting the middle pipe to "Pipe Output."

    • 7

Save your newly created pipe, then copy the RSS feed.

    • 8

Create a new Twitter account to publish the re-tweets.

    • 9

Create a Twitter feed at twitterfeed.com and paste the RSS from your new pipe. You now have a Twitter account that will re-tweet everything you indicated.
