How to Make Floral Collage Handbags

Floral collage handbags can make a fun and funky fashion statement. Create your own bag by modifying a used handbag to match an outfit or your personality. Simply decoupage flower pictures onto a used bag to create a fantastic new purse. Select a handbag made from vinyl, plastic or fake leather for best results.

Things You'll Need

• Vinyl, plastic or fake leather handbag
• Paper flower clippings
• Decoupage glue
• Wide paint brush
• Paint tray
• Acrylic varnish
• Glitter (optional)

Instructions

1. Select an adequate amount of paper flower clippings to completely cover the purse. Cut the paper into small pieces of a desired shape and size. Floral wrapping paper is an excellent choice for obtaining a sufficient amount of similar flowers to cover the purse.

2. Pour a small amount of decoupage glue into the paint tray. Use the paintbrush to apply paste to a small area of the handbag. Carefully apply pieces of floral paper to the paste. Continue until an entire side of the handbag is covered. Allow the side of the handbag to dry completely before starting on the other side.

3. Once the handbag is entirely covered in the floral collage, apply two coats of the acrylic varnish to create a glossy finish. Allow the first coat of varnish to dry completely between applications. Add some bling by sprinkling glitter onto the second coat of varnish. Allow the glitter coat to dry before applying a third coat of varnish.
