Onesies snap up fashionably.

A onesie can be a simple outfit, a warm under-layer or a fashion statement. Solid fabric or prints, long sleeves or short, baby onesies often make up the foundation of a little one's wardrobe. If you sew and wish to make your own baby clothes, put snaps on a onesie to finish the sewing project. Snap tape makes quick work of this finishing detail.

Instructions

    • 1

Measure the distance across the hemlines of the front crotch of the onesie and the back crotch of the onesie with the tape measure. Write this measurement down.

    • 2

Cut a length of snap tape that equals the front crotch and back crotch measurement. The snap tape will probably have three snaps along this length. Separate the two sides of the snap tape. One side will be the male side of the snaps and the other side will be the female side of the snaps.

    • 3

Pin one side of the snap tape to the hemline of the front crotch on the right side of the onesie, centering it and turning under both ends 1/4 inch. Sew the snap tape to the front crotch of the onesie, stitching about 1/8 inch away from all four edges of the tape.

Pin the other side of the snap tape to the hemline of the back crotch on the wrong side of the onesie, centering it and turning under both ends the same way you did on the other snap tape. Sew the snap tape to the back crotch of the onesie, stitching it in the same fashion.

Remove the pins and check the onesie snaps by snapping them.
