1
Purchase a white, shiny long-sleeved, full-length bodysuit and a black vest that can be pulled on over the head.
-
2
Try on the vest, and trim the bottom edge with scissors just above the waistline. Take off the vest. Fold and pin a 1/2-inch hem along the cut edge. Use the needle and thread to sew the hem, removing the pins.
-
-
3
Pin the 1-inch-wide gold seam trim along the bottom edge of the vest, along the neck hole and in a straight line up the front of the vest. Use the needle and gold thread to sew the seam trim in place, removing the pins along the way.
-
4
Cut a 6-inch diameter circle out of black felt and lay it flat on a few sheets of newspaper. Use gold puffy paint to paint the Power Rangers design on the black felt circle. Set the felt aside to dry.
-
5
Pin the decorated felt circle to the middle of the chest of the vest. Use a needle and gold thread to stitch the circle into place, removing the pins.
-
6
Measure around the tops of the armholes of the vest, from the front, just above the armpit, to the same position in the back. Fold the 1/2-yard piece of gold felt in half to create a double thickness. Cut two double-thickness shoulder covers from the felt. Each should be 8-inches wide and the length previously measured at the start of this Step. Pin along the edges of each shoulder cover and use a needle and gold thread to stitch along the pins, removing the pins as you go.
-
7
Pin each shoulder cover to the right and left shoulders of the vest. Use a needle and gold thread to stitch along the pins, removing the pins as you go.
-
8
Cut two leg bands out of black felt, 6-inches long and as wide as your calf. Cut two pieces of shiny gold fabric 5-inches long and as wide as the leg band. Center and pin the gold fabric on the leg band, so that 1/2-inch of black is exposed at the top and bottom.
-
9
Use a needle and gold thread to stitch the gold fabric to the leg band. Sew Velcro to each leg band so it can be secured around the calf. Repeat Steps 8 and 9 to create two wristbands that are each 5-inches long.
-
10
Spray paint a motorcycle helmet gold. When the paint has dried, use black paint to paint the details of the Power Ranger helmet.
-
11
Accessorize the costume with white boots, white gloves and a shiny gold belt.
