How to Decorate an Apple Cider Bottle

Crafters who enjoy working with recycled materials can decorate apple cider bottles and give them new life. Apple cider bottles come in many shapes, from small round ones that fit in the palm of your hand to large gallon jugs. If you have a stash of craft supplies around the house, you can use many of them on your apple cider bottle. If not, a quick run to the dollar store will yield many decorating options.

Instructions

    • 1

Tear small pieces of masking tape and cover the bottle. Tape in all directions and overlap the pieces. Rub on shoe polish with a rag and wipe away the excess. This '70s craft staple yields a bottle with the texture of wood.

    • 2

Glue small rhinestones all over the bottle with tacky glue. You can make designs like swirls and stars, or cover the entire bottle. Grasp small rhinestones with tweezers to make them easier to manage and place.

    • 3

Paint designs or words on the bottle with glitter, metallic or puff paint. Look for the paint in accordion squeeze bottles to make it easier to control. Trim the end of the bottle at the tip for fine-point lines or farther down for thicker ones.

    • 4

Decoupage paper pictures onto the bottle. Get the paper wet, lay it against the bottle and brush on decoupage medium with a sponge brush.

    • 5

Coat the bottle in glue, then roll it in sand or glitter. Shake off any excess before allowing the bottle to dry.
